Sule College has Parents Association or equivilant and its working fine. dont see why it wont work at GVIC.
ReplyDelete-Malek Fahad has girls wearing hiajb from yr 4 onwards. GVIC should do the same.
ReplyDelete-big number of there teachers are not Muslims meaning Australian graduates, Our children are going to live in this country and they must know the lifestyle. GVIC should employ more Australian graduates.
Please read the Extract of Malek Fahd Principals (Dr Intaj Ali) interview with ABC.
Jane Figgis: At Malek Fahd School, the boys all wear long trousers, and the girls from Year 4 onward, the heejab, although some of the littlest girls also wear it. What is noticeable is that all of the students are Muslim, but many of the teachers are not. Intaj Ali is the Principal.
Intaj Ali: Yes, it's true. A big number of our teachers are not Muslims and this is a deliberate policy of the school board, because we want to ensure that we do not have an isolationist approach. In other words, we don't want to develop this ghetto mentality. Our children are going to live in this country and they must know the lifestyle, the cultures of the predominant Australian culture.
Jane Figgis: The thing with one of the groups of young girls, I guess Year 6 girls, they were involved in quite a complex discussion about whether they should be making decisions for themselves, and I guess one of the things that perhaps outsiders would imagine is that in a religion that has very clear standards and ideas, that there's still a huge amount of space for genuine debate and discussion, indeed even about the Koran.
Intaj Ali: Yes, that is true indeed. And in fact the religion itself encourages us to discuss issues, to debate issues, in fact the Koran is very explicit in even how we debate issues, and so this thinking about issues and having a choice is important. It is in fact part of religion, and as you've said, people are surprised that Muslims have these discussions, especially girls have this kind of choice.
year 7 mum - I just rang Unity Grammar(Austral) & Faisal College(Aurbun), they have Parents Association & Heejab is complusory from year four onwards as well. It seems that GVIC is becoming a extremist Islamism. GVIC needs to align itself with what ALL the other Australian Islamic schools are doing.
ReplyDeletemy daughter is in unity Grammar
DeleteKEEP BR. AFZAL OUT OF OUR SCHOOL, PLUS OTHER SCHOOL BOARDS DON'T INTERFERE WITH THE SCHOOL INTERNALLY, THEY LET THE PRINCIPAL RUN THE SHOW AND THATS THE CORRECT WAY TO RUN IT. SO BELIEVE ME, WAIT TILL OTHER SCHOOLS OPEN AND I GUARANTEE YOU THAT GVIC WILL HAVE NO MORE STUDENTS....THANKS VERY MUCH AFZAL FOR DISTROYING OUR SCHOOL AND ITS REPUTATION ALREADY BECAUSE YOU AND YOUR PETS ARE CRAWLING IN...KEEP OUT
ReplyDeleteParent of Unity Grammar:
ReplyDeletemy friends daughters goes to GVIC and she has told me about this blog. Its good to see that parents are in jihad for there children. some things on Unity Grammar: we have a PNC(PA), our girls wear hijab after yr 4. 99% of our teachers are Australian graduates with good Aussie accent,we have 3 quran class & 3 arabic per wk.
Webmaster...why have deleted my comment? The truth cant possible hurt that bad!! why do you continue to allow only negativity?
ReplyDeletewhere were you when some parents tried to organise a PA? they used the correct channels and no one supported that venture. This wasnt too long ago either!! suddenly are school is filled with 'concerned parents' and the school is so bad! BOOHOO
GVIC can use the help of Islamic Education Consultancy http://www.islamiceducation.com.au/wp/. I have spoken to Silma Ihram and she is more then happy to assist school Board & parents to come to working terms.
ReplyDeleteFinally something decent and productive...but it still doesnt answer the question. Why do you continue to delet comments that have even the slighest positive tune to them??
ReplyDeletewhere is the democracy you demand?
when will something be heard or done we have waited to long ,stop deleting true information about the school, staff and admin.
ReplyDeletei can hear the crickets....
ReplyDeleteIs GVIC going down the Islamic 'hardline' path.Read below extract from UK newspaper.
ReplyDeleteTTLE-Muslim parents unaware of 'hardline' teaching at some Islamic schools:
By Martin Bentham, Home Affairs Editor.19.02.09
SOME Islamic schools in Britain were today accused of teaching "fundamentalist" views in a new report which warns they could undermine the country's social cohesion. It says the teaching risks encouraging some Muslim children to "despise British culture" and prepare them to live "separate lives" in "Muslim enclaves" distant from the rest of society.
The report also claims some Muslim parents deliberately send their children to "sectarian schools", but suggests many are unaware of the hardline content of teaching, dress code and are simply choosing Islamic schools in preference to less successful state alternatives............
THE GVIC BOARD NEEDS TO REVIEW ITS TEACHING,UNIFORM/HEEJAB POLICY.
Australia needs a Muslim Parents Association to help & support all parents of Islamic Schools. see below the uk Muslim Parents Association example. I'll ask Silma Ihram if she has thought about this.

silma? nour al houda?
ReplyDeleteI called and spoke to a AFIC school officer today. As most of you might be aware that AFIC runs a number of schools in Australia. The AFIC officer said that all there schools are structred to have a moderate islamic approach. Thats why they have heejab from yr 4 onwards. AFIC Students play sports, do projects etc with other non muslim schools. This encourages AFIC students to have a better understanding of the Australian people & culture. Afic school requlary do community based things like cleanup, enviroment caring etc. WHAT DOESNT OUR GVIC DO THESE SORT OF THINGS. IS IT THAT THE FIJIAN BOARD MEMBERS & PRINCIPAL HAVE NEVER BEEN EXPOSED OR TAUGHT TO THESE SORT OF THINGS.
ReplyDeleteit is true that all gvic board members & principal were born in Fiji. Dont think its totally there fault because these sort of values have never been taught in Fiji. But its never to late to info & educate the gvic board members & principal. no offence intended to anyone.
ReplyDeleteStop being racist and fear Allah. Their are plenty of hadiths specific to not judging one another on race but on piety!!
ReplyDeleteI am disgusted to think values are being brought into the school through children as a result of their parents attitudes.
Please dont look down at my parents for being born in Lebanon...its not their fault...its qadr Allah. And dont undermine their values and way of life, that would be very ignorant!
I teach my children to love each other for the sake of Allah alone.
LMA (Lebanesse Muslim Association) like many other ethnic groups, doesnt allow any other race. Ethnic based communities and organisation are very common in a multicultural society. We should stop taking pot shots at each other and channel all our energy into forming an Australian Muslim Association.
Aim4Jannah you are AWESOME. I lovvvvvvve the way you think. You are so right in saying that we should channel all our energy into forming an Australian Muslim Association. Why dont we start from GVIC. Lets get the Leb & Fijian parents talking, laughing, eating & working together. PTA will make all this possible.
ReplyDeleteMalek Fahd Islamic School mum says:
ReplyDeleteI just haeard of this website from couson on sat night. Malek Fahd is so nice becuase our kids get to experince a mix of everything like sports with other school, student projects with other school, uniform is light and cool, hejab is not from year 4, masha allah arabic-quran is very good, parents have meetings. message to my sisters & brothers at GVIC, plsease keep on asking the school board to fix your problems.
i personally think that green valley islamic college is a great school masha-allah and it is progressing very well alhamdulilah.
ReplyDeleteaim4jannah has a gfood point raised and i think that we should not judge anything. that is allah's job. we leave the judging to the almighty. let us all unite and become one muslim body with any culture or race. may allah (swt) guide us to the right path and give all the muslimeen patience.
the school is still progressing, just give it some time.
my children love the school, and the discipline policy is very good.
therefore even if i were to talk bad about the school, there would be nothing bad to say about it.
insha-allah this will get through to you and you will begin to think twice about green valley islamic college, as well as islam.
year 4 parents said:
ReplyDeleteNAPLAN(The National Assessment Program in Literacy and Numeracy) starts on 12th May 2009 for year 3, 5, 7 and 9 students. Although the Tests will be marked by expert, independent markers. My children plus other kids told me that teachers were telling them the answers in the exams last year. Teachers should STOP giving answers just to keep the overall school stats high. Let the students do the exams on there own and if the results are poor then we know which areas the teachers & students need to put extra time in.
heyyyyyyy, my boys said the same thing that teachers gave them some of the answers. Did the principal tell the teahcers to do this on Faiyaz (mr bean) & afzal requests. Hmmmm The plot thickens.........
ReplyDeleteMost private schools have a independent group (noramlly parents association) that keep track at a high level of how the students are performing over the years and ensure that those students that need extra assistanace are detected early and taken care of before they reach year 12 for the HSC. GVIC currently doesnt have this independent mechansim in place. The students and parents are in for a BIG surprise when we have our 1st batch of year 12 students sit for HSC. Why doesnt the Principal/School board allow parents to do these sort of independent checks. Are they worried ???
ReplyDeleteI heard from the horses mouth this afternoon that the new principals appointment has been delayed. Afzal doesnt want to take the role yet due to the heat from the parents. He wants the parents issues(pta, hejab, unifirm) to cool down & go away before he makes hes entry. wondering if Faiyaz-mr bean has finally got hes way with afzal behind hes back.
ReplyDeleteI fully agree with the above parent about NAPLAN. The problem is that lot of parents dont have a clue about this exams.
ReplyDeleteIt is very sad indeed that within the Muslim community it is being discussed that a GVIC Male teacher who had applied for a senior position at the school recently had been openly telling answers to students in the NAPLAN(The National Assessment Program in Literacy and Numeracy)Test for past years.
ReplyDeleteLack of teaching strategy and skills leads to such corrupt ways of cheating with the School, Parents, Board, Government and with Almighty Allah.
Isn't this cheating and what has the board done so far in regards to this? Nothing! It is appearant that their are no ethics or code of conduct implemented at GVIC where by teachers can abide by it, and dedicate themselves towards quality teaching and produce results in a fair way and not by telling answers to students...It is also being told by many students of his class that majority of the time this male teacher is engrossed in doing assignments. Getting paid by GVIC and utilising school time for other work. It is easy to grow long beard but difficult to abide by the teachings of the Holy Quraan and the Hadith Shariff. There is no fear of Akhira that we shall be summoned before Allah Subhan wa ta'ala and will have to give an accountability.
There are other Islamic Schools registered with
ReplyDeletehttp://au.ratemyteachers.com and I understand these schools are concerned about results and competition and not just "sleeping" and moving with the flow behaviour. Why can't GVIC get their teachers rated and the truth will be EXPOSED?
This is the reason why many parents are withdrawing their children from the school. Large sums of school fees are being paid to the school and in return no importance is paid in imparting quality Education.
Act now GVIC or media will be at your Door step with Department of Edcation Officials.
OUR TEAM WILL BE CLOSING THIS WEBSITE AND MOVING ITS CONTENTS TO OUR NEW WEBSITE. PLEASE STOP USING THIS WEBSITE AND POST YOUR THOUGHTS ON - www.helpgvic.blogspot.com

DeleteAnonymous said... subhan allah, how do you want the children to learn values of not being racist, when the teachers themselves teach the children that, my son was being taught by a fijian teacher and i was very upset to learn that she actually mistreats all the lebanese ones and favours the fijians. we are all one ummah we are all MUSLIMS.
ReplyDeleteFebruary 11, 2010 1:51 PM
i personally think that they need to get this new principal and the teachers investigated, i dont think they know what they are doing, and the sad thing is they cover up for each other even when the do wrongggggggg. if this was a public school they would all be out.
ReplyDeletein my view the biggest losers are the children as the new principal is bent on having larger classes to save money. More stress for the teachers doing all these silly paper works and that means only one thing -less time spent on teaching children.
ReplyDeleteTo safeguard personal interests and job security the children become the victims.Open your ears and eyes (school Committee) see what is happening-teachers are being fired left right and centre. Overseas teachers holding secondary teaching qualifications are now teaching primary school - which is impossible in other schools. The new principal is an academic but not an administrator. Take action to improve or there will be no children to support the school.
FUCK YOU MR.JAFAR YOU RACIST MOTHER FUCKER. YOU ONLY PICK ON THE ARAB KIDS. 6 BOYS GOT SUSPENDED FROM HIGH SCHOOL, 5 OF THEM WHERE ARAB AND 1 OF THEM WAS FIJIAN, THE ARAB KIDS GOT SUSPENDED AND THE FIJIAN STAYED IN SCHOOL WITH NO SUSPENSION. WTF!! I BET ALL YOU DO IS WATCH PORNO AND WANK YOURSELF IN YOUR OFFICE.
ReplyDeleteFUCK YOU MR.SHITRAZ, CANT EVEN TEACH MATH FOR SHIT. GO SOME WHERE ELSE BESIDES TEACH WHICH YOU DONT KNOW HOW TO AND STOP PICKING ON LITTLE KIDS THAT YOU THINK YOUR TOUGHER THAN YOU SAD CASE.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree that the school has become very racist, if you pay attention closely to all the kids that are being suspended or given level cards, they are all arabs,, teachers are abusing these kids and putting them down and that principal wont do anything about it,if this was a public school, those teachers would have been kicked out straight away,
ReplyDeletethese teachers are abusing these kids, and so is this principal, who the hell do they think they are, these poor children are having their self esteem crushed by these so called staff, they speak down to them and always disrespect them, just cause they are teachers and principal doesnt give them the right to talk to any child like that, kids are constantly put down in front of their peers, grow up you teachers and this new principal he should get a life, what type of example is he setting for the rest of the staff, i think the board need to reassess all their staff if they want their school to remain open, the sad thing is, if they stay this way, its only a matter of time that this school will be closed and no more students,
ReplyDeletei had my son abused by mrs rahana, she used to hit him with a ruler, pinch him, grab him by his shoulders and hit him against a wall, pull his ear and constantly put him down in front of his friends in class.
ReplyDeleteMy son got suspend, we are Arabs, my son did the crime and now he is doing the time. The racism that you claim is at GVIC is what u are bringing to it!!! Go back to ur parents and get them to raise u all over again, hopefully second time round they will do a better job. Look at the language that you are teaching your child, it is the likes of you that continue to contaminate GVIC!!!
ReplyDeleteIts very simple, if u are not happy and ur children, as u claim, are being constantly subjected to abuse, then go!! there are 3 other islamic schools in the area u can chose from and there are wonderful public schools as well who may be better for you and your children
i agree with you, if theyve done the crime then they can do the time, but not when they are being pinpointed by these teachers and principal cause they are arabs, why wasnt the fijian/indian suspended,
ReplyDeletei dont believe in racism, ya allah we are all muslim , one ummah, .
they the staff of gvic should grow up and treat all these kids with respect, how can you teach a child respect when they dont show them how.
for other islamic schools there are other schools around and public schools too, but how sad is it that we have to change our kids schools after all these years cause they dont know how to handle them properly.
well said to the above, we are all one ummah and we are all equal, noone is better that anyone,
ReplyDeleteto the comment above this one, true there are other schools around, but why should our kids have to leave a school that they were brought up in and leave all their friends behind because of these cruel teachers, i would love to see how they would react if another teacher hit one of their children, what goes round comes round, so let them watch out
my primary school son finally likes her new Australian teacher. way to go Dr Jafar.
ReplyDeleteOHHH.... Dr Jafar finally. Kisses from me. please bring more aust trainned teachers and get rid of the slack indian teachers from fiji.
ReplyDeletejust got a sms from my cuz about aussie teaachers in our school. so 2 in primary and 1 in high school. the wheel of good fortune is turning and Dr jafar is at the helm. please dont let the wheel turning stop. more oz teachers Dr jafar
ReplyDeleteyou are all idiots. you people talk about Islam and at the same time back bite and slander a muslim brother. shame on on you all. I am just wondering how many of you offer 5 daily prayers. May Allah guide you to the right path. Ameen
ReplyDeletetalking about teachers, please check at Malek Fahd how many indo fijian teachers they have. I would say over 80%.still they produce the best results. If you have a good survey of all public schools in sydney. they have about 4-5 indo fijian teachers in each school. its not where the teachers come from but how they perform. Of course this a a community run school and they should employ teachers from their community first. Sule college have over 90% turkish teachers because the community stay together and send their kids there and not depend on students from other communities. To the parents who are keen on aussie teachers please find a public school, so you can also learn their lifestyle. I
